Illustrated Synopses

Inspired by storyboards for Puccini’s Turandot created by students in Newark, NJ, the Met’s illustrated synopses provide an overview of operatic plots in comic-book form. Each synopsis is based on a Met production and incorporates key design elements—including scenery, props, and costumes—seen on the Met stage. A popular teaching tool across grade levels, these illustrations can be viewed online and downloaded as PDFs; many are also available in Spanish translation.
