Opening Act: Discovering Opera through Creative Play
Opening Act: Discovering Opera Through Creative Play is a series of workshops for families and young children. Covering a range of topics—including voice types, characters and emotions, choreography and set design, and musical form and composition—these sessions provide an engaging introduction to operatic storytelling through movement, play, and hands-on activities and demonstrations. The program comprises three hour-long weekend workshops, beginning at either 9AM (children aged 4–6) or 10:30AM (children aged 6–8). Each workshop will be hosted at the Met and led by a Met teaching artist. Registration is open to guardians and children; space is limited.
NOTE: The registration fee includes all three workshops in either session; workshops cannot be purchased individually.
Opening Act is made possible by Diane Pachetti.
