More About the Summer Internship
The Metropolitan Opera Internship is a fantastic opportunity for young adult students to pursue their professional development in a setting that offers them comprehensive experience and ways to enhance their skillset. Launched in the summer of 2022, the internship program has seen 42 interns join the Met community in a variety of capacities, including:
Among its many offerings, the program will include:
- A general orientation and overview of all areas of the Met’s operations
- Assigned staff mentors dedicated to performing arts management and opera production
- Opportunities to attend performances and socialize with fellow interns and Met staff
- Weekly seminars featuring special presentations by Met senior staff
During the internship, each participant will be encouraged to choose principal areas of interest. These include production and season planning, marketing and communications, finance, and development, staffing and HR, and education. At this time, we wanted to share that the program will be on hiatus for Summer 2026. We look forward to welcoming interns back when the program resumes in Summer 2027.
